MANY WAYS TO PRAY
Palm Congregation’s Prayer Shawl Program,
an Outreach of Our Health Ministry |
|
|
|
There
are many ways to pray ― in church, at waking and sleeping, at
mealtimes, in crisis, at home or away, and, as the liturgy says, at
all times and places. Some folks pray with hands folded or raised
up. Others close their eyes, while others talk to God with eyes wide
open ― focused on icons or pictures or special images. Some are
seated or kneeling or walking. Others like to feel or touch something
during prayer ― making a physical connection with those they are
remembering before God. |

|
The
shawl can be especially welcomed by persons who are ill, recovering, or
lonely. It can be a blessing to those celebrating a joyous life event. A
little color, the warmth of being covered up, and the personal ties
between giver and gifted are all enrichments for those who pray and who
are prayed for. Our hope is that these shawls and others yet to be made
can make real the love of God in a new and touchable way. |

| If you or a loved one
would like a shawl, please feel free to call either Teresa Keller,
Parish Nurse, at 329-8507, or Patty Van Scyoc at 832-1337. |
